Slow Cooker Oatmeal with Apples and Pears

School starts in two weeks and I’m already stressing about what I can make for breakfast.  I need something quick and easy but it can’t leave us starving an hour later.  I’ve found that hearty breakfasts like oatmeal are the best!  And cooking oatmeal in the slow cooker seemed like a genius idea.

Slow Cooker Apple Pear Oatmeal

I’ve been wanting to try making oatmeal in the slow cooker so I finally gave it a try and I can’t believe I waited this long to try slow cooker oatmeal.

I also just realized that I like mixing my fruits in recipes.  I really just couldn’t decide if I wanted to add pears or apple to my oatmeal so I went with both.  I figured I couldn’t go wrong with that combination.  Of course, you can just add apples or pears.  I LOVE the way this turned out.  The combination of apple and pear with the cinnamon and brown sugar was perfection!

I love that I can make a huge batch of this oatmeal and reheat individual servings throughout the week.  I think I could even freeze it in individual containers and reheat it that way.

I also have to add that your entire house will smell amazing!  I think I’m going to throw this in the slow cooker every time I’m having people over so they think my house smells this good all the time.

There are so many possibilities with this simple recipe.  I especially love adding oats to my diet on a regular basis because they are an incredibly versatile whole grain and rich in dietary fiber.  They can also reduce cholesterol.
