This recipe for homemade granola couldn’t be any easier to make. It’s naturally sweetened and uses simple ingredients that you probably have in your pantry. After making this recipe, you’ll never buy granola again!
Homemade granola has to be one of the easiest recipes I’ve ever made and after making homemade granola – I will never buy it at the store again. Not only is it healthier when you make it yourself but it’s so much cheaper! The best part about this recipe is you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry right now.
Homemade Granola Ingredients
- Oats – I always use old fashioned oats when making homemade granola. They are also called rolled oats. To make this recipe gluten free, use certified gluten free oats.
- Sliced Almonds – I used almonds in this recipe but feel free to add your favorite nuts and seeds like pecans, walnuts, sunflower seeds, etc.
- Sea Salt, Cinnamon, Orange (for zest), Almond Extract – Adds the right amount of flavor to this delicious granola
- Olive Oil or Coconut Oil – Oil helps make the granola crispy. I’ve used both coconut and olive oil but any oil will work.
- Maple Syrup or Honey – Use maple syrup to make this recipe vegan.
- Unsweetened Shredded Coconut – I love coconut but feel free to omit if you aren’t a fan. You can also add coconut flakes.
How to Make Homemade Granola
First, add oats, almonds, salt, cinnamon, and orange zest in a large bowl. Stir to combine.
Next, add oil, maple syrup or honey, and almond extract. Stir to combine. Add coconut and mix together.
Spread mixture on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Cook for 20-25 minutes until browned, removing every 10 minutes to mix so granola cooks evenly.
Remove from oven and let cool. Stir in chocolate chips, fruit, or any additional toppings. Serve immediately or store in an air-tight container at room temperature.
