It’s that time again – it’s time for another round of Craft Lightning.  This round is all about simple holiday crafts that can be done in less than 15 minutes.  And, while I’m still in denial that Christmas is only 7 weeks away, I am excited to start decorating and planning for the holidays.  It is, after all, the most wonderful time of the year.  I’m especially excited to work on holiday crafts that are quick and easy.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE mason jar gifts but you probably know that already:). So, this year I’m giving all my gifts in these adorable Snow Globe Mason Jars.  Aren’t they the cutest thing ever?

Well, guess what my friends?  They aren’t just cute.  They’re easy to make too!  Turn plain mason jar lids into snow globes in less than fifteen minutes.  Then just fill the jars with a gift and you have a fun, festive, and awesome gift in a snow globe mason jar.

They’re so easy that I totally forgot to take step-by-step pictures because they came together so quickly.

Here’s what you need to make your own Snow Globe Mason Jars:

  • Mason Jars
  • Fillable round ornaments (make sure they are the same size as your mason jar lids)
  • Shredded snowflakes
  • Small plastic ornaments/Christmas decorations
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Ribbon/twine

Directions:

Step 1: Remove lid and band from mason jar.  Use your handy dandy glue gun to glue small ornaments and decorations to mason jar lid.

Step 2:  Open ornaments and fill one side with about 2 tablespoons of snow.  Add glue around edge of plastic ornament and adhere to the mason jar ring – not the lid with ornaments.

Step 3:  Carefully add a line of glue around the inside of the mason jar ring and place the lid inside the ring to form your snow globe.

Step 4:  Fill mason jar with candy, gifts, hot cocoa, etc. and screw lid onto mason jar.

That’s it!  A simple way to jazz up mason jars this holiday season.

I filled the smaller one with hot cocoa mix as a super easy gift.  I placed gift cards and candy in the two larger jars.  This is by far my new favorite way to gift wrap gift cards this holiday season.

  1. The ornament is round that you put the deorations in? I love this but I guess I do not understand. I would love to have more detail.

  2. I love this idea, but like someone else said, not sure how this comes together… I’ve never seen fillable ornaments. If the ornament is round and plastic… would you cut it to accommodate the lid? Would surely love to try this.
