I can’t believe it’s already time to start getting ready to head back to school.  Summer has flown by and I’m not sure I’m ready for it to end.  I love summer and I love Connor being home with me.  I also love that I don’t have to rush out the door to get Connor on the bus.

Morning Routine Tips for Back to School

Let’s just be honest – mornings are crazy!  And I only have one child to get ready for school.  I applaud all you moms and dads out there who have to get multiple kids out the door for school in the morning.  You all deserve an award.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about having kids it’s that we need to stick to a routine so I’m sharing a few morning routine tips to get us all on track to head back to school.  Believe me when I say – I’m certainly no expert.  Our mornings were stressful and hectic so I needed to find a few ways to make our mornings run smoothly so we weren’t starting our days stressed out.  Some of these I already do and some I’m going to start doing this school year.

Morning Routine Tips for Back to School:

1. Plan outfits for the week.  This is my number one tip for back to school.  Pick out and organize your child’s outfit for the week.  I can’t tell you how much time this has saved us.  I don’t have to help Connor pick out his clothes, I don’t have to worry about Connor wearing mismatched outfits, and he can quickly get dressed in the morning.

Weekly Outfit Organizer 2

I created a weekly outfit station using an organizer my mom picked up for me.  She came to visit me last week and brought it down with her.  The bins make outfit planning super easy.  All I did was label each bin with the days of the week.  I’m going to put socks and keep Connor’s pajamas in the bottom bin.

Super easy and extremely convenient for busy mornings.

2. Create a toothbrush organizing station. Such a simple solution to organizing toothbrushes.

3. Get backpacks ready the night before and have them ready for the school day with a backpack station. Also, set your child’s shoes by their backpack.  I can not tell you how many mornings we have been running around the house looking for shoes.

4. Pack lunches the night before.  I’m so good about this at the beginning of the school year and then I slack off halfway through the year.  But I do know that it makes our mornings so much easier so I need to do this all year long.

5. Make packing lunches easy with a lunch packing station.

6. Create a playlist.  I LOVE this idea.  I haven’t done it yet but I’m going to have my hubby do it this weekend and create  a 30 minute playlist to get us moving in the morning.

7. Use a morning routine printable to keep your child focused on completing morning tasks.  There are tons all over Pinterest.  I printed one out and have it on our table so Connor can make sure he has brushed his teeth, made his bed, and packed his backpack while he eats breakfast.  This is exactly what Connor needs every morning to make sure he gets everything done before he runs out the door for the bus.

8. Make a quick breakfast that’s full of protein!  When you have 30 minutes to get the kids off to school, you need a quick and easy breakfast.  But you also have to make sure that it’s something that won’t leave them sitting in class starving after an hour.

Don’t worry – Tyson® has Back to School covered!  I stocked up on Jimmy Dean® Pancakes & Sausage and Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links & Patties because we all love their delicious and effortless breakfast solutions.  My husband likes to eat them in the car on his way to work.

While you’re back to school shopping at Walmart, make sure to swing by the freezer section to stock up on Tyson® and Jimmy Dean® products to help make your mornings stress free.

So basically these tips have taught me that it’s all about planning things out ahead of time and being organized. Don’t wait until the morning to do everything; which is hard for me because I’m a procrastinator.  I better start getting things organized!

What tips do you have for making sure your mornings run smoothly this school year?

  1. I really love the outfit organizer and I need one of those for my boy. He wears uniforms, but it would help us with the underwear and socks and making sure he had something clean every day! [client]
