This Mexican Hummus dip is a packed full of flavor and perfect for family gathers, game day, and more! There’s nothing better than an easy, healthy dip!
Mexican Hummus Dip
Happy Tuesday everyone!
Do you know what that means? It means it’s Taco Tuesday!!
Every Tuesday our neighbors get together at our house for tacos and margaritas. We started doing this almost a year ago and now it’s something that we look forward to every week. It’s easy because each family is in charge of bringing the same thing every week so it’s more like a pot luck. Every week I’m in charge of making chicken taco meat in the slow cooker which is super easy and I’m also in charge of buying shredded cheese.
I’ve also been making this delicious Mexican Hummus Dip for everyone to snack on and it’s become a huge hit. I started making this right after the new year because everyone wanted to eat healthier. This dip has no sour cream or cream cheese so it’s healthier than other taco dips I’ve made and it doesn’t need to be baked so you can make it in about 10 minutes.
How to Make Mexican Hummus Dip
We all know it isn’t a party without 7 Layer Dip and we’re putting a fun twist on the classic recipe. We’re using hummus instead of refried beans and sour cream. And, guess what? You won’t even miss those ingredients – I promise!
This dip technically only has 6 layers and creating the layers is quick and easy. All you need to make this recipe is:
- Hummus
- Salsa
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Shredded Cheese
- Black Olives
To prepare this recipe, mix the hummus and taco seasoning in a small bowl and spread in baking dish. Add a layer of salsa over the hummus. Then sprinkle with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and black olives. It’s that easy!
Tips for Making this Easy Dip Recipe
Can this dip be made ahead of time? Yes, it can which makes this dip a real winner. Just prepare and refrigerate until ready to serve and enjoy!
How can I spice up this recipe? Do love your dips to be spicy and hot? This is an easy recipe to spice up.
- Add chopped jalapenos
- Use spicy taco mix
- Add hot salsa
- Add 1 or 2 cups of Pepper Jack cheese
What can I serve with Mexican Hummus Dip? I recommend serving this dip with tortilla chip. You can also serve this dip with carrot chips and sliced cucumbers.
What cheese should I use? I like to use cheddar cheese but you can really use any kind of cheese. I do recommend shredding your own cheese. I just think it tastes so much better than pre-shredded cheese.
