I’ve got another fun  craft project that you can make using those awesome adult coloring books.  Well, I’m not sure this is really a project but it’s a fun do-it-yourself craft that you can use over and over again.  Because once again, what do you do with all those gorgeous coloring pages you’ve spent hours coloring?  Now you can make Color Your Own Bookmarks.

I’m in love with how these turned out.  This is a great rainy day activity and would also be a fabulous thing to do with your students if you’re a teacher.  I know my English students would love to make these Color Your Own Bookmarks.

Supplies needed to Color Your Own Bookmarks:

  • Coloring books
  • colored pencils or watercolor – whatever you prefer
  • paper trimmer

Easy Directions:

  1. Color your favorite coloring pages.
  2. Cut your coloring pages to 1.5 x 6 inches.

That’s it!  Only two steps required to make these colorful bookmarks.

You can never have too many books and bookmarks!

But did you know that some children don’t have books and the learning materials they need to be successful students?

Did you know that the best way to become a better reader is to read more?  Avid readers read and they enjoy reading!

What do you do if you can’t afford the books and materials needed to help struggling readers?  You rely on awesome reading and literacy organizations like First Book.

And, as a parent, teacher and Reading Specialist, I’m so excited to learn about First Book.  First Book is a nonprofit organization that provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to children in need. They’ve distributed more than 150 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families.  How awesome is that?  I LOVE organizations that help students especially when they’re focus is on reading and learning.

First Book has teamed up with Fruit Shoot and Pizza Hut’s Literacy Project to ensure all students have books to read.  Every time a Fruit Shoot product is purchased at Pizza Hut between November 10, 2016 and April 30, 2016, 5¢ will be donated per bottle to First Book.

How fabulous is that?  Eat pizza, enjoy a Fruit Shoot, and help others!  It doesn’t get any better than that!!
