I’ve been wanting to make flower pens for years!  I always love writing with then and since my students are always stealing my pens off my desk, I finally made a few.  I actually had no pens to write with today because they all disappeared so this project was a necessity.  I finally realized that it’s just way more fun to have flower pens on your desk than regular pens.  Plus they are so easy to make.

I can’t believe I’ve never made them before.  They were so easy to make!

Supplies needed:

  • silk flowers
  • pens
  • glue gun and glue stick
  • green washi tape

Flower Pens

Step 1:  Cut the flower about half an inch from the base of the flower.

Step 2:  Remove the top part of the pen.  Squeeze a little hot glue inside the tube.  Then slide the wire inside of the tube.  Hold in place until the glue dries.

Step 3:  Wrap the washi tape around the pen.

That’s it!  You’re done and you have some cute pens to show off.

Now I needed a cute little pot to put my pens in so I took an old candle jar and spray painted it with yellow paint.  Then I added a chalkboard label that I found in the dollar section at Michaels and added my name.  Now I have a cute way to display my fabulous flower pens.

I can’t wait to take them to school tomorrow and start using them.  Again – Why did I wait so long to make these??

Flower Pens

I’m pretty sure my 6th grade boys won’t want to write with them and maybe I can bribe my girls to do their work with a flower pen:)

Does writing with flower pens make you happy too?

  1. I love these! When my Daughter was in Kindergarten, I got this beautiful poem and one of these pens for Mothers Day. The front office at my kids’ school also has a vase of these right where you sign in. It looks very pretty. My pen has a lily and the ones in the office are red roses. Very cool project.

  2. I love the flower pens and the adorable pen holder you made. So cute!! I love writing with flower pens and so do my girls. Thanks so much for the great idea! Love, love, love it!!

  3. Did you ever have trouble with the pens not working after putting hot glue inside?
