- 1 cup uncooked steel-cut oats
- 1 apple peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1 pear cored and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Toppings - pecans raisins, honey, maple syrup, additional milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon (optional)
Coat inside of slow cooker with cooking spray - do not skip this step.
Add all ingredients except toppings. Stir, cover, and cook on low for 7 hours.
Serve warm with toppings, if desired.
Store leftovers in refrigerator.
To reheat single servings: Add 1 cup of cooked oatmeal to bowl. Add 1/4 cup milk and microwave on high for 1 minute. Sir and cook for 30 seconds or until oatmeal is warm.
